Antique 8-Day Grandfather Clock - Brass Dial - Pine Case
The stripped-pine case stands 80" high and the brass dial is 10 3/4" square.
The dial and movement have been in my possession for about 40 years and I fitted them to a spare case, to make a very pretty and functioning clock which was still working when I stored it away about 15 years ago.
I recently re-oiled the movement and set it running again and it still seems to be in working order.
The dial is signed Willm. Presbury, Coventry, who is listed as working in 1795, but the lack of a seconds dial and some fittings on the back of the dial plate indicate that this dial was originally fitted to a 30 hour movement, not the present 8-day one.
Although it could be used as it is, this clock would be an ideal project for a keen amateur restorer as there is scope for improvement to the case and the movement would benefit from a proper clean.
The clock is located near Gatwick Airport and must be collected. I can accept cash payment on collection.
