Norton Nut's Archive of Completed Auctions
Gnome Aero Engine Cylinder
This cylinder has been hung up and used as a bell for many years. The clapper consisting of an old nut and bolt suspended from a bicycle spoke is still in place. I don't know what model it is from, but it looks like those on the very early 50 or 80hp models in photos I have seen. Bore is about 110mm diameter.
This is a rare opportunity to obtain a most unusual piece of early aviation memorabilia.
Clean it up and paint it for display, or hang it up as a dinner bell or use it to call "time" in your aviation-themed bar. Now that really is unusual.
