Norton 500T Wide Ratio Gears
This lot of gears are a full set as used in the upright Norton gearbox to give wide ratio for Trials use.
The mainshaft gears are N8047 (25T Sleeve Gear), N8162 (21T), N8160 (16T), N8048 (12T)
The layshaft gears are N8046 (17T), N8163 (21T), N8161 (26T), N8049 (30T)
These give internal ratios of 1.0, 1.47, 2.39 and 3.67
The 21T mainshaft gear has light wear on the teeth and some fretting on 1 tooth. The dogs are quite worn and require regrinding.
The 16T mainshaft gear has quite bad fretting on all teeth. I would only use it in an emergency.
All the other gears are in good condition and seem to have had little or no use. There was some very light and patchy rust on them when I acquired them, but not enough to do any significant damage to the working surfaces.
