Stuart Turner Sirius Steam Engine
This engine seems to be very well made and is in good mechanical condition. It runs smoothly at low pressure on an air line.
Cosmetically, it would benefit from stripping and repainting properly as the present red/brown colour has been painted over the previous green in a fairly haphazard way. This would be a very simple and rewarding restoration job.
It has been suggested to me that due to differences in the base plate and the height of the oil filler, compared with the old Stuart catalogue pictures, this may be one of the factory made engines which were part of steam generating sets parachuted into occupied Europe during WW2.
I have no evidence to confirm this but perhaps you can give more information.
