Boxford Model A 4 1/2 inch Metalworking Lathe
I recently overhauled and repainted this machine for my own use but a change in circumstances now mean that I must sell it.
This is an imperial machine and it has a gearbox for screw cutting and to adjust the feed rates. It has power cross feed.
I have fitted new belts, one new gear on the back-gear and a new micrometer thimble on the cross slide.
I fitted a new 3-phase 3/4 h.p. motor which is controlled by a frequency inverter which is included in the sale. It just needs to be plugged into a standard 13A mains socket. The inverter can be fitted on the wall, remote from the lathe and the on/off, forward/reverse and speed controls are all operated from the white box on the top of the lathe, which replaces the original switch box.
The machine is equipped with 3 and 4-jaw chucks, keyless tailstock chuck (Albrecht), live centre, face place, 2 catch plates and a Dickson-type tool post with 6 tool holders.
It is located near Gatwick Airport and must be collected.
I will be happy to roll it out to your vehicle and to help remove the machine from the cabinet if necessary.
