Dakota Aircraft Owners Identification Plates
These two owner's name plates are approximately 5" x 3 1/4" (126 mm x 82 mm).
They appear to be made of highly polished stainless steal. 'WD is machine engraved but 'HM is quite neatly done using something like a vibrating etching tool.
By modern standards these are quite crudely made but I believe them to be the genuine article. I have owned them for nearly 50 years.
For information, 'HM was a C-47 Dakota 3 registered to Skyways from 12 Nov 1948 to 21 Feb 1951 and then served BEA until 1 May 1963. 'WD was also a Dakota 3 registered to Skyways from 6 Dec 1948 to 23 Feb 1951 then serving BEA until 16 May 1960.
